The very edge of a weak cold front is passing just northeast of the Columbia Basin Friday bringing partly cloudy skies and some breezy winds while high pressure remains dominant over the PNW. The ridge is working like a dome that will continuously increase temperatures through Monday into the triple digits as early as Sunday! That is 15-20° above average for this time of year and a month earlier than expected for our first 100° day of the year.

Temps remain slightly above average through the week with the 90s returning Friday. High pressure will slowly expand into the region that keeps us warming into the low 90s by Friday. The PNW Convection Oven is set to preheat this week as this ridge looks to fully establish by Thursday and bring us up to near 100 for the weekend. Gusty winds will keep us mostly dry for the beginning of June and increase fire danger in localized areas where gusts exceed 15 MPH.
