    Logan Boyd said that when he graduated from Wittenberg University, he felt stuck and wanted to find a way to give back. The Sunbury native and Big Walnut graduate said a family friend inspired him to join the United States Coast Guard. "I thought that the service would help open some doors for me, and it has done way more than that. It's given me a lot of really great experiences and, you know, put me in touch with a lot of great people that are going to be friends for life," Boyd said.

As the senior director for warehouse logistics for Volunteers of America of Ohio & Indiana, Lawrence Hendrix said he oversees everything donated that shouldn't be there, from firearms to hazardous waste. But it was a surprise, even to him, when Hendrix met Dolores in 2018. Her cremains were brought to his office from the organization's West Broad Street Thrift Store, where they had been found in a plastic bag.
