St. Augustine jumped out to a four-run lead in the first inning, but it was short lived after Brother Martin scored five runs in the second inning. Brother Martin stayed in control the rest of the way, scoring nine more runs in a 14-6 win Friday at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium.

John Curtis has been at the wrong end of several one-run games this season, but they were able to deliver a close win in a district matchup against Jesuit. A two-run home run to left by Jeffrey Curtis in the fourth inning saw John Curtis tie things up at three, but Jesuit quickly responded with a run in the fifth. An RBI single by John Curtis centerfielder Nate Alario in the sixth was the one run needed to break the tie in a 5-4 win Thursday at Harahan Playground.

St. Augustine stole six bases in the third inning against Holy Cross, which proved to be a difference-maker in a District 9-5A matchup Tuesday at Holy Cross. The six stolen bases led to a three-run third inning for St. Augustine to take its first lead of the game, and the Purple Knights led the rest of the way in an 8-6 win over Holy Cross. Bryce Robinson had two of the stolen bases, and the Knights finished with eight total steals.

The Lutcher boys powerlifting team was aiming to win a state championship after the girls team won their 19th in a row at the LHSAA state powerlifting meet. Saturday's fourth and final day of lifting at the Pontchartrain Center saw Lutcher's boys take first place in Division II to win the state title for the first time since 2021. Lutcher had six boys record podium finishes, with junior Logan Borne taking first place in the 275-pound weight class.

The last day of the LHSAA state powerlifting meet at the Pontchartrain Center saw several New Orleans area lifters record podium finishes in Saturday’s boys contest consisting of Division’s I, II and III. Pearl River finished second as a team in Division II with four lifters reaching podium. Senior Jesse Gonzalez took first place in the 181-pound class and was named Most Outstanding Lifter in the Division II heavyweight group having lifted 1,470 pounds between squats, bench presses and deadlifts.
