UNO saw their season come to an end Friday night in the second game of the Southland Conference championship series against Houston Christian. The No. 8 seed UNO needed a win to stay alive, but they fell short against the No. 5 seed HCU for the second night in a row. The Privateers rallied after trailing early but were unable to close the gap in a 16-11 loss at Husky Field in Houston.

The UNO baseball team won three straight Southland tournament games entering Thursday's SLC championship series, but saw that winning streak come to an end against Houston Christian. Being down seven runs in Houston proved too much for the No. 8 seed UNO to overcome. The Privateers (28-25) rallied from a six-run deficit against Northwestern State on Saturday to advance to the championship series, but they were unable to recapture that magic in an 8-3 loss to the No. 5 seed Houston Christian.

The Loyola University baseball program has finally had its breakthrough moment, reaching the NAIA World Series for the first time in school history after coming close in recent seasons. The World Series trip comes after Loyola (41-16) appeared in an opening round regional in four of the past five seasons under head coach Jeremy Kennedy.
