JEFFERSON - Pentecostal Community Church, in collaboration with the Ashtabula County commissioners and local stakeholders, late last year announced the receipt of a $1.5 million award in the 2024 Affordable Housing Program (AHP) from the Federal Home Loan Bank’s Pittsburgh branch. This critical funding will support efforts to address homelessness, specifically targeting the youth population in Ashtabula County.

ORWELL - The Country Neighbor Program, Inc., has received a belated Christmas present. Jessica Paulic recently presented a $1,722 check to Country Neighbor Executive Director Barb Klingensmith and Associate Director Jim Long, with the donation a result of the Paulic family’s annual Christmas Lights for a Cause event. On Saturday, Dec. 14, the Paulic family hosted the Annual Christmas Lights for a Cause at 5633 Mechanicsville Rd. in Hartsgrove Township.

ROCK CREEK - The Ashtabula County commissioners spoke at a “Meet the Commissioners” program hosted by the Rock Creek Area Chamber of Commerce at the Rock Creek VFW on Friday, Jan. 17. The January program has become a tradition for the commissioners. They took turns speaking about some of the progress made in the county in 2024, as well as plans for 2025. As the new president of the board, Commissioner J.P. Ducro IV spoke first. “We look forward to this every year,” Ducro said.

JEFFERSON - A group of community leaders and stakeholders met on Wednesday, Jan. 16, to discuss the future of the Pymatuning Lake Festival. Ashtabula County Commissioner Kathryn Whittington spearheaded the meeting, which was held in the commissioners’ meeting room of the Old Ashtabula County Courthouse. Held in early August every year by the Pymatuning Area Chamber of Commerce, the Pymatuning Lake Festival celebrated its 20th year in 2024.
