    Stephanie AmayaStaff WriterThe men’s water polo team grabbed their last win of the season on Senior Day against the Occidental Tigers in a close overtime match, 16-15, on Saturday at the La Verne Aquatic Center. The opening ceremony showcased their graduating players in a light, funny and heartfelt ceremony where they were surrounded by family and friends. Seniors Eric Bates, Peter Trinh, Sawyer Nering, David Gutierrez, Steven Rios and Alam Chang-Barnuevo were honored.

    Stephanie AmayaStaff WriterThe 24th annual Taste of La Verne hosted by La Verne Chamber of Commerce featured a variety of food and drinks, designed to highlight the city’s best. This year’s event was Oct. 16 at a Pomona warehouse on Metropolitan Drive. Over 100 people got a complimentary wine glass with their $45 entry fee and wristband before they entered the venue with tables that represented more than the usual local restaurants, wine bars and breweries.

    Stephanie AmayaStaff WriterThe men’s soccer team lost to the Occidental Tigers, 3-2, on Saturday evening at Ortmayer Stadium. In the opening of the match ceremony the Leopards had players escorted by a West Covina based soccer club called Progressive Soccer Ozzy. After the ceremony, the boys’ soccer club sat behind the right goal post with the athletic management staff. They enjoyed the game from the field while playing their own games during halftime.

    Stephanie AmayaStaff WriterThe men’s soccer team beat the Cal Lutheran Kingsmen, 2-0, on Saturday at Ortmayer Stadium to snap a four-match losing streak and open the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference season. Over 100 people came to watch the match unfold under the hot afternoon sun. The excitement of the crowd from start to end was heard consistently for both sides.
