1. IntroductionA standard treatment for locally advanced rectal cancer (LARC) is trimodality therapy, consisting of neoadjuvant radiation +/− chemotherapy, surgery, and adjuvant chemotherapy. Despite trimodality therapy, around a third of patients still develop recurrent disease [1]. Currently, there are no biomarkers in routine clinical practice for patients with LARC to personalise treatment.
