Member for Bradfield, Paul Fletcher, has resigned from federal politics. In a statement released on the 10th of December, Fletcher announces that he has no intention of running a campaign in the upcoming 2025 federal election, and will instead be leaving politics to pursue work in the private sector. Fletcher will remain in his seat until the 2025 election, which is still to be announced.

At the first meeting of the newly elected council, Ku-ring-gai Councillors have voted in a new Mayor and Deputy Mayor. For the first time in Ku-ring-gai Council history, both positions are being filled by females. During the meeting held on the 8th of October, Councillor Christine Kay was elected to serve a two-year term as Mayor until September of 2026. Mayor Kay has been representing the St Ives Ward since 2018 and was the previous Deputy Mayor prior to her new appointment.

The highly contested seat for the Mayoral spot at Hornsby Shire Council has a new occupant. Announced by the NSW Electoral Commission, the results of the Mayoral vote from the Local Government Elections show Shire residents voting in Liberal candidate Warren Waddell to serve as their Mayor. This will be Waddell’s first appointment as Mayor, and his third time on Council. Previously, Waddell had served as the Councillor for Ward A and briefly as Deputy Mayor.
