    In the lead-up to Christmas, many of us found ourselves rushing to secure last-minute gifts, wrap up end of year events and attend community gatherings, perhaps finalise travel plans, and lock in dates with family members we may only see once or twice a year. I was no exception. Amidst the festive preparations, I also accepted a few last-minute invitations within the community and one left a lasting impression.

    It is my absolute pleasure to announce to readers of The Post that I will be running for the seat of Berowra in the 2025 federal election. I never thought that life would take me down the political path (surely there must be better candidates), but after several community members expressed their trust and potential support it got me thinking. I was reminded of veteran Community Independent politician Cathy McGowan’s often repeated mantra, ‘if not me, who, and if not now, when’.

    SAVANNAH — Forsyth Park, famous for its elegant fountain, historical monuments and towering live oaks draped in Spanish moss, has been a magnet for residents and tourists alike for nearly 200 years. Now there is a growing debate about its future. A nonprofit park conservancy plans to raise private funds for improvements to the city-owned park and has asked for the Savannah City Council’s blessing.

    At the first meeting of the newly elected council, Ku-ring-gai Councillors have voted in a new Mayor and Deputy Mayor. For the first time in Ku-ring-gai Council history, both positions are being filled by females. During the meeting held on the 8th of October, Councillor Christine Kay was elected to serve a two-year term as Mayor until September of 2026. Mayor Kay has been representing the St Ives Ward since 2018 and was the previous Deputy Mayor prior to her new appointment.

    The highly contested seat for the Mayoral spot at Hornsby Shire Council has a new occupant. Announced by the NSW Electoral Commission, the results of the Mayoral vote from the Local Government Elections show Shire residents voting in Liberal candidate Warren Waddell to serve as their Mayor. This will be Waddell’s first appointment as Mayor, and his third time on Council. Previously, Waddell had served as the Councillor for Ward A and briefly as Deputy Mayor.
