MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Marcus Sanders pleaded not guilty Wednesday morning to two charges he is facing for the deadly Saenger shooting. Sanders, who was in court, is facing a capital murder charge and a first-degree assault charge. Sanders is still being held without bond, and while he’s allowed to communicate with his girlfriend, they’re not allowed to discuss the case.

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - A year ago, we brought you the story of Ernestine Bryan-King. We were there as she celebrated her 104th birthday party. She said we would be back next year when she turns 105. And Saturday, we were. She says her life has been a good one, and her family means the world. “I feel happy with all of them here. I’ve lived a happy life. I live a happy life with my children. My children are sweet to me. My children take care of me,” King said.

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Margaritaville is heading to Baldwin County. The city of Orange Beach and The Wharf hosted an official groundbreaking ceremony Wednesday morning. “He wrote many songs about this part of the country. It’s emotional for me because we were partners for 27 years. I know how special this part of the world was to him,” CEO John Cohlan said. Margaritaville was founded by the late great Jimmy Buffett. Buffett was born in Pascagoula, Mississippi, but spent most of his childhood in Mobile.

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Alabama Governor Kay Ivey made a special appearance in Mobile Tuesday morning. It was all part of her back-to-school tour across the state. She spoke to students in grades kindergarten through 8. Her message? “Strong students, strong Alabama”. “As Governor, I have a lot of responsibilities. But the thing I’m most focused on is making sure that you all have the best education possible,” Gov. Ivey said.
