Last year, the Trenton baseball team upset Newberry, 4-3, in the FHSAA Class 1A-Region 4 Final to advance to the FHSAA Baseball state semifinals in Fort Myers. Although the young Tigers lost to No. 1 Bozeman in the 1A state semifinals, their first trip to the final four since 2018 has served as motivation to get back this year with nine returning starters.

Strictly speaking, this was the indoor training ground of Crystal Palace Football Club’s academy: the dome was basically a big top for kicking a ball about in.

Because it communicates a thought that has become increasingly real to me over the past few months. I was diagnosed with the rare disease myasthenia gravis in 2014. In the years since, there have been phases when the harsh winds of this disease have blown hard against me, threatening to extinguish so many flames.

The official opening of the newest Miracle Field in Vernon came just over three months after its ground-breaking ceremony, and was welcomed with a crowd of supporters, officials, and volunteers on Sept. 20. The field, just behind Northeast School, will be used by players of all abilities. It accommodates baseball, soccer, softball, and other sports, and will be used by leagues, schools, and other organizations, as well as local residents.

The event was attended by Windsor Economic Development officials, representatives of Windsor’s First Town Downtown, local business people, and people from other towns within CT Main Street Center’s membership.

The Rockville Rotary’s Fall Family Fest is set for Oct. 7, but this year the Rotary is teaming up with the Maple Grove Club to add an Oktoberfest vibe to the event, which will take place at the club’s location at 100 Franklin St. in Vernon. The Rotarians said that the event will, as in previous years, have several vendors and games for kids, as well as a touch-a-truck area. “It’s really the same idea as we’ve had in the past, and it’s still going to be free admission,” said Rotarian Randi Saboski.
