You could say that Carson Hinzman's football career at Ohio State has had a lot of stops and starts. Hinzman was recruited out of Spring Valley, Wis., where he played high school ball at Saint Croix Central. He was rated as the nation's No. 188 overall prospect and No. 9 interior offensive lineman in the 2022 class, according to 247Sports.com. He arrived at Ohio State and redshirted in 2022.

Over the last three years, the Phenom United travel basketball program has become one of the top programs in Ohio and an attractive platform for some of the state's top hoops prospect. For years, All-Ohio Red cornered the market with its teams playing in the high level Nike EYBL. Phenom United is joined by Midwest Basketball Club as Ohio-based teams playing in the adidas 3SSB. Wildcat Select, based in West Virginia, also boasts several Ohio players and plays in the adidas events.

The Ohio State men's basketball team will again participate in the CBS Sports Classic. The Buckeyes will face North Carolina in one of half of the typical doubleheader. The event will return to State Farm Arena in Atlanta, where it was held two years ago. It is again scheduled for the Saturday before Christmas, Dec. 20, which also coincides with the first round of the College Football Playoff.

Upper Arlington, Ohio, 2026 basketball standout and Ohio State verbal commitment Alex Smith is off to a good start this spring as he plays with the Midwest Basketball Club travel team. That team posted a 4-0 record and won the 17-U championship at the Buckeye Classic this past weekend. The competition will step up a notch this coming weekend as the Midwest team travels to Bryan, Texas, to play in the first weekend of adidas 3SSB action. The team will play four games from Friday through Sunday.
