    A 57-year-old Brampton man, wanted on a warrant for multiple theft incidents between August 2024 and April 2025, has been arrested in Peterborough. Peterborough Police say on April 16 of this year, officers were called to a Home Depot store over reports that a theft had taken place. During the investigation, officers were made aware of an incident that took place a week before, where two men entered the store and only paid for some of the items in the cart at the self-checkout before leaving.

    The Queen Street-Highway 7 Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project is still very much on the table, says Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown. There had been reports recently that the project had been halted, but that is not the case, says Brown, who, along with Metrolinx, confirms that the BRT is proceeding as planned. “We want to be clear with our residents — our Queen Street BRT work with Metrolinx continues, so we can move this critical project forward,” Brown says in a recently released statement.

    A Brampton man accused of being the getaway driver in a $20 million gold heist at Toronto Pearson Airport is locked up in a U.S. prison awaiting conviction on charges related to the Canadian operation. Durante King-McLean, 27, recently pleaded guilty to gun trafficking, which prosecutors in Pennsylvania believe was tied to the case that unfolded at the Mississauga-based airport in 2023.

    A gang of robbers made off with an unspecified amount of merchandise during a smash-and-grab heist at Costco in Brampton. According to Peel Police, several masked suspects burst into the large wholesale warehouse on Biscayne Cresent in the Steele Avenue East and Highway 410 area around 7 p.m. yesterday (April 14). Reports indicate the gang used hammers to smash showcases that contained jewelry. While trying to escape, a Costco employee tried to intervene but was struck by one of the culprits.
