Acting Chief Naval Operations Adm. James Kilby revealed during a panel discussion last week that USS Truman struck ISIS targets in Somalia back in February. “They launched the largest air strike in the history of the world - 125,000 pounds from a single aircraft carrier into Somalia,” he said. The carrier was part of a U.S.-led effort to protect international shipping in the region. They targeted Houthi rebel positions in Yemen during five months in the Red Sea.

Still in development, Norfolk is not expected to see the first drones arrive until at least 2031. At the moment, the Navy is seeking public comment for a draft environmental report. Units didn’t have crisis response plans tailored to their units, or they lacked critical information, such as local contacts and resources, said Bryan Clark, Assistant Inspector General. “Commanders gave various different reasons. Many didn't know that they were required to do it.
