Clare athlete Chris Jeuken has won the 2025 Cork City Marathon, three weeks after winning the Limerick half marathon. The Derg AC athlete romped home in 2 hours 18 minutes and 55 seconds. He was welcomed at the finishing line by his girlfriend Olivia Gurnett, who ran the 10km marathon. He said the win is particularly special as he has only recently returned after a six-month hiatus because of an ankle injury. He plans to do the Berlin and Armagh marathons later this year.

All of the 21 show gardens showcased at this year's festival, which kicked off at Dublin's Phoenix Park from Thursday, were designed to incorporate environmental measures and with sustainability in mind.

Gardaí investigating the disappearance of Fiona Pender have concluded a search operation in Co Laois, the second search since her case was formally upgraded from a missing persons case to a murder investigation earlier this week. Gardaí said the results of the searches, conducted on open grounds in the Slieve Bloom mountains area since Wednesday, are not being released for operational reasons.

Gardaí investigating the disappearance and murder of Fiona Pender have concluded a search operation at a location in Co Offaly. Ms Pender went missing on August 23, 1996, and was last seen at her apartment on Church Street, Tullamore, by her partner John Thompson. She was 25 years old and seven months pregnant at the time she went missing.
