The investigation into the disappearance of Michael Gaine, a Kerry farmer, last seen on March 21, has been upgraded to a homicide investigation. The 56-year-old was last seen in Kenmare town on Thursday, March 20. He bought phone credit in Centra, Kenmare, at 9.48am, and left in his bronze-coloured RAV4 registration 152 KY 366. The vehicle was found parked in his farmyard, just off the N71 at Carrig East.

Gardaí and emergency services are at the scene of a reported stabbing in Cork City this afternoon. It is believed the incident happened outside a business premises in Douglas Village. In a statement to the , gardaí said: "Gardaí are currently at the scene of an incident on East Douglas Street in Cork this afternoon, Wednesday 23rd April 2025.

The Coast Guard is currently coordinating a search for a man who fell overboard in the Irish sea. The man, who was on a UK-registered yacht, was last seen about 30 km off the coast of Dunmore East, Co Waterford. A 999 call was received last night from the yacht requesting assistance.
