A man has been airlifted to hospital after a glider crashed into a hillside in Perth and Kinross on Tuesday. The man's condition is unknown following the incident, which took place around 2pm. The helicopter attended and took the casualty for emergency treatment in Edinburgh. Footage from the scene shows the helicopter landing on the hillside then ascending from just below the hilltop near a group of bushes, before flying east.

Police have closed off a busy Edinburgh road due to an ongoing incident, with motorists advised to avoid the area. Bridge Road, in Colinton, is closed in both directions, with police saying the disruption is due to a "medical incident" on social media. Police have appealed for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward after a man died in hospital after being found lying in a Renfrewshire street. Andrew Lees, 27, was found unresponsive on Newmains Road in Renfrew at around 2.30am on Sunday. Police and paramedics raced to the scene and Andrew was rushed to hospital, where he later died. Officers are treating the death as “unexplained” and enquiries are ongoing.

The Northern Lights illuminated the skies on Sunday night with the Met Office confirming sightings spread across the UK. The Met Office said the lights were “observed across Scotland, clearly visible from Shetland webcams, and sightings reported across some central and eastern parts of England”. On Sunday the Met said the best chances to see the Northern Lights, also known as aurora borealis, were in Scotland, but “it could be possible as far south as central Wales and England”.
