MOSES LAKE, Wash. -- The Moses Lake School Board met Thursday evening to discuss the district's budget deficit. In May, the district said it was roughly $20 million short. The deficit is due to many factors, but largely in part to a failed levy and an $11 million accounting error that was discovered in May. So far, the district has laid off nearly 200 staff members in an attempt to close the budget gap. On Thursday, the Board said it needs to cut an additional $13 million to balance the books.
