As volunteers countywide have been praised for their dedication and commitment, a life-saving charity has highlighted how its helpers have made a massive impact on its free critical care service. In marking Volunteers’ Week, the East Anglian Air Ambulance (EAAA) said volunteers have donated 12,500 hours of time in less than one year.

A Downham group, set up to support those living with sight loss, is raising awareness of eye conditions and highlighting how it can offer information and friendship. Downham Macular Society meets every third Tuesday of the month from 1.30pm to 3.30pm in the function room at the town’s Methodist Church on Paradise Road.

Sponsors are urged to come forward to save a popular coastal music festival in danger of being staged for the last time. The organisers of the free summer Hunstanton Musical Festival, which attracts bands from all over East Anglia, needs support from businesses and individuals to replace funding which has been withdrawn. The Hunstanton and District Festival Arts organised event will go ahead this August but the committee is warning this could be the last time if support isn’t found.

A care home resident has donated £20,000 to Lynn’s hospital in memory of his wife. Ray Foyster, 92, a much-loved resident at Goodwins Hall in Lynn made the heartfelt and generous gesture to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital as a touching tribute to his late wife, Tess. The gift will support vital training and equipment at the hospital whose staff cared for Tess many times throughout her life.

A Downham business has supported a town charity with a donation following the recent festival. Barkers DBS made a £200 donation to the Royal British Legion branch as a result of money raised from its stall at the week-long community event.
