Women, as well as men, who had greater upper body strength tended to have more lifetime sexual partners compared to their peers.

    There’s no mistaking the kindly expression of Jerry Burtenshaw on the newly installed signage in the Department of Hospitality Business Management’s conference room. Family members, faculty, staff, and students of the Carson College of Business gathered in 2024 to celebrate officially naming the space the Jerry Burtenshaw Memorial Conference Room. The naming recognizes Jerry (’56) and Angelina Burtenshaw’s lengthy service to accelerate transformational hospitality education and experiences at WSU.

    An ongoing program from Washington State University is providing free mental health assistance to farmers. Washington’s Farm Stress Counseling Voucher Program is led by WSU Skagit County Extension and utilizes the WSU Psychology Clinic to deliver telehealth appointments to farmers who request stress-related counseling. The program is available free of charge to all farmers and farmworkers in Washington state, including those in the forestry and shellfish industries.

    Jason Butcherite, an experienced executive chef and culinary educator, has been named as the director of Dining Services at Washington State University Pullman. He will officially begin his duties in mid-December. Butcherite’s appointment comes after a national search, prompted when current Dining Services Director Sarah Larson announced last spring she was planning to step down from the position. Larson will continue to provide leadership in Student Affairs.
