Sierra Vista Police arrested a former Cochise College student Friday for “terroristic threats” to Cochise College staff. SVPD arrested 33-year-old Sierra Vista resident Charles B. Wise who has been charged with engaging in an act of terrorism, aggravated assault, interfering with an institution, and using an electronic device to threaten or intimidate.

Cochise County announced Tuesday the results of an investigation on two sealed mail-in ballots from the 2022 General Election that were found in a ballot drop bag. The news release said that last month, County Elections Director Tim Mattix grabbed ballot drop bags used by Election Marshals from secure storage while preparing for the March Presidential Preference Election.

Officials at the Cochise County Superintendent of Schools gave a presentation last week to law enforcement about the school communication software that will allow Cochise County schools to share information with law enforcement. The Sheriff’s Office was awarded a $1.5 million grant to establish a school safety program including a school communications system between local schools and law enforcement. Navigate360 is the program that Cochise County is using.

College President Dr. J.D. Rottweiler plans to retire in March of 2025. Rottweiler says there’s no reason for retiring that relates to the college, and says over his career, he’s tried to bring passion into everything he does "And most days, I have that passion and that energy," Rottweiler told AZPM.
