The Ramona H.E.A.R.T Mural Project will host a walking tour of its murals on Saturday Feb. 15 as part of the Live Well San Diego “Love Your Heart” event. To kick off the event, blood pressure monitoring will be done from 10 a.m. to noon on the patio of Ramona Family Naturals, 325 Sixth St.The guided mural walking tour along Old Town Ramona Main Street will be led by group President Elaine Lyttleton from 11 a.m. to noon.

Ramona Unified trustees approved a settlement Monday night following two unsuccessful appeals — including one to the California Supreme Court — of rulings that the school district violated the California Voting Rights Act and must pay attorney fees for the plaintiffs. The settlement was for over $1.4 million, according to plaintiffs’ attorney Kevin Shenkman.

Voters are not supporting Measure GG, which would generate up to $26.7 million to improve Career Technical Education (CTE) facilities in the Ramona Unified School District, according to early election results Tuesday night. The measure was proposed to generate funds to expand, renovate and revitalize existing, or build new classrooms and school facilities, for college preparation, vocational and career training programs, proponents say.

The Poway News Chieftain and Rancho Bernardo News Journal won 18 awards, including five first-place honors, at the San Diego Press Club’s 51st annual Excellence in Journalism Awards competition. The ceremony was held on Oct. 22 at the International Houses in Liberty Station Conference Center in Point Loma. The competition is among the largest in the country, honoring the work by hundreds of San Diego County media and communications professionals, according to the organization.
