EDISON – Two township men have been arrested following a months-long narcotics investigation. Tyir Pugh, 42, and Deshaun Stephens, 18, were arrested and charged with possession of controlled dangerous substances (CDS) with the intent to distribute, multiple counts of possession of CDS, unlawful possession of a handgun, possession of a ghost gun, possession of high-capacity magazines, and possession of a firearm while committing a CDS offense, police said.

Route 1 lanes in both directions between Townsley Street in Edison and the Garden State Parkway in Woodbridge will be closed during the daytime beginning this week for the start of a paving project. This part of the work is expected to take several weeks to complete. From 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. April 7, there will be temporary shoulder closures on Route 1 in both directions for construction sign installation, according to the New Jersey Department of Transportation.

Edison voters will choose from four candidates in the June 10 Democratic primary for mayor. Mayor Sam Joshi is facing three Democratic challengers – Councilman Richard Brescher, Lav Patel and Anjana Patel. Joshi is seeking his second term in office. The winner of the primary will face Republican candidate Gloria Dittman in November. No incumbents are running for the three Township Council seats contested this year.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK – Police are looking for a 52-year-old man with ties to both Bridgewater and Franklin who they say has been linked to a 2012 burglary. Police Chief Raymond Hayducka said Dale Scott, whose last known address was in Bridgewater, but he may be in the Franklin area, has been charged with burglary, theft of movable property and criminal mischief. On Feb. 1, 2012, a Rocky Hill Road home was broken into, and several items were stolen. Sgt.
