A former youth club home to some of Banksy’s earliest artwork has been sold for £650,000 - and could be knocked down for houses. The famous artist among others like Inkie and Cheo began his art career at the Dug Out in Barton Hill, Bristol. They were inspired by John Nation’s Aerosol Art Project, which took place at the club in the 1980s, in which the building itself became a canvas for street art. One of his earliest pieces ‘Poodle Bulldog' can be seen on one of the walls.

Two former police officers have been charged with the rape and indecent assault of an under age girl while serving at a force's mounted horse section. Former Pc Ian Hopkinson, 63, has been charged with five counts of indecent assault on a girl under the age of 16 years and five counts of rape of a female under 16 years.

A mum whose newborn died at three weeks old says her worries over his "jerking" movements were dismissed as "first time parent paranoia". Harvey Saines passed away in his sleep due to strep A sepsis and myocardial fibrosis - a heart disease. Mum Lilly Rossiter, 21, and dad Zach Saines, 28, noticed Harvey was "jerking" after he was born but were told it was just a reflex.

A shopkeeper says he has managed to turn the tide on the record rates of shoplifting seen across the nation - by carrying out his own citizen's arrests. Shoplifting in the UK hit a record £2.2bn last year, alongside surging crime levels and rising violence and abuse against staff, data revealed today. Martin Gaunt, 62, runs his gift shop, Happy Piranha, in Truro, Cornwall. He was fed up of shoplifters - and what he says was a lack of "proper" support from the police.

More accounts and pictures have emerged of the mini 'tornado' that left a trail of destruction in Cornwall yesterday, Thursday, January 23. Houses in Quintrell Downs lost parts of their roofs and trees blew down. According to weather maps, the winds hit at around 9.30am yesterday. Resident Steve Beckett he was in "complete shock" when he saw the level of damage in the village. He saw fallen trees and debris from people's gardens, roof tiles and garden walls blown down.
