A retired healthcare worker says it is "unfair" that not all state pensioners qualify for 11 April freebies. Eligible state pensioners are now set to receive the additional freebies and discounts on top of their regular payments. The new perks include a free passport application, a free TV licence and council tax help among others to those eligible. Audrey Rothwell, 71, said that it is "unfair" - adding that the discounts should be applied to "all state pensioners".

A mum says the Home Office won't give her a passport - because she changed her name to Pudsey Bear for charity 16 years ago. Eileen De Bont officially became 'Mrs P Bear' in honour of Children In Need's teddy mascot after running an eBay auction to raise money in 2009. The 53-year-old raised £4,000 through an online auction for the charity's appeal. She provided a list of 50 options and pledged to change her name to the one chosen by the highest bidder.
