Over 100 students, faculty, and staff held a walkout from class and work on Feb. 8 to call on Georgetown to divest its endowment from companies that invest in technologies used by the Israeli military to murder and police Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank.

A united “Free, free, Palestine!” shook Washington, D.C.’s Freedom Plaza on Jan. 13 as thousands gathered to demand an end to Israel’s genocide in Gaza. Organized by the American Muslim Task Force for Palestine and affiliate groups, the March on Washington for Gaza joined marches in London, Paris, Rome, Milan, Dublin, and other cities around the globe.

Students from across the university joined together on Jan. 26 for a ‘Day of Solidarity’ with Gaza and the West Bank. The day included two vigils, one held at noon by GU Medical Students for Palestine (GUMEDS4PAL), and another held at 3:30 p.m. by Georgetown University Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP). Speakers at both vigils honored those killed by Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza and echoed calls for an immediate ceasefire.

Pro-choice and anti-abortion protesters clashed at the annual Women’s March held at Freedom Plaza on Saturday, Jan. 20. Despite below-freezing temperatures, hundreds of demonstrators showed up in support of abortion rights. The Women’s March is a women-led movement that advocates for a diverse range of issues including anti-racism, voting rights, equal pay, and reproductive freedom. D.C.’s march was held in unison with marches across the country.
