Late Friday evening, demonstrators that had been standing and chanting outside the barricaded-off encampment began setting up more tents on H Street.

Students from George Washington University along with students from Georgetown and other schools from throughout the D.C. area established an encampment in solidarity with Gaza early this morning on GW’s campus. It follows similar protests at universities across the country, including Columbia University, Harvard University, New York University, and the University of Texas at Austin, among others.

Gender-inclusive housing is essential for the safety, health, and well-being of LGBTQ+ students at Georgetown. The editorial board calls on all undergraduate students to vote “yes” on the upcoming GUSA referendum for comprehensive gender-inclusive housing. The gender-inclusive housing referendum opens for voting on April 11 at 8 p.m. and closes on April 13 at 8 p.m., the same timeline as GUSA Senate elections.

The Georgetown Resident Assistant Coalition (GRAC) announced their intention to unionize under OPEIU Local 153 via a press release on March 22. Their reasons for unionizing include demands for equitable and just compensation, as well as a formal grievance process in response to the mistreatment of some RAs by management. Organizers began working toward unionization efforts in February, and the majority of RAs have signed a petition in favor of forming a union.
