LITTLE FALLS, Minn. (Valley News Live) - Some say it’s the hardest thing they’ve ever done, both physically and mentally, the Minnesota State Patrol Academy. The academy is a 14-week-long boot camp training the troopers you see on the road every day. This year, there are 42 cadets going through the academy. They live at the Minnesota National Guard’s Camp Ripley in Little Falls, where they do several hours of physical activity on top of hours of training every day.

FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) - A former Fargo businessman has been sentenced after leading a cocaine distribution enterprise in the Fargo-Moorhead area for nearly four years. According to the United States Department of Justice, 52-year-old Barrett Clair Prody of Fort Lauderdale, Florida was sentenced to 190 months, or, about 16 years behind federal prison bars. His sentence will be followed by five years of supervised release. He will also need to pay a $300 special assessment fee.

Like other departments, it’s facing some staffing challenges, but it wasn’t always this way. The department has been around since the 1880s.
