Over 200 people have been killed while thousands have been displaced in Afghanistan's northern Baghlan province as flash floods caused by heavy rains, the United Nations said on Saturday. UN's International Organisation for Migration (IOM) said that some 1,500 homes were damaged or destroyed in the Jadid district of Baghlan. At least 100 people had been killed there.

Najibullah Haqqani, the Taliban's acting minister of telecommunications and information technology, revealed his intentions in an interview with Kabul's TOLO News last week. Following two decades of siege and conflict, millions of Afghans now have restricted access to cellphone services and internet connections, resulting in a growing information blackout.
