    PITTSBURGH β€” Thousands of runners will take to the streets this Sunday for the annual Pittsburgh Marathon. The 26-mile course runs through many city neighborhoods, including the East End, where storms recently disrupted power and scattered debris along the route. On Friday, Channel 11 News spoke with organizers and city and county leaders who reported a collaborative cleanup effort. Marathon organizers held a joint news conference on Friday.

Every Thursday and Saturday, Jamar’s Place of Peace in Penn Hills provides free food to those in need. However, this week, the local food pantry will be cleaning up after storms caused a power outage that lasted more than 48 hours.

    OAKMONT, Pa. β€” Residents in Oakmont reported to Channel 11 News that just before 6 p.m. on Tuesday, winds began to increase, causing widespread power outages and massive trees to snap. The downed trees crashed into power lines, shutting down major thoroughfares like Hulton Road. Oakmont was one of the areas hardest hit in the region. Drone 11 captured images of trees uprooted and branches broken in half, blocking streets and bringing down power lines throughout the community.

    PITTSBURGH (WPXI) – A bus driver accused of running over Elena, a 5-year-old girl, has been placed on paid leave. After Tuesday’s crash, Elena’s mother said her daughter is a fighter. Now, McKeesport Area School District Superintendent Donald McFan has confirmed that the driver who hit and ran over the 5-year-old has now been placed on paid leave following a toxicology test that was negative for both alcohol and drugs. The district also confirmed it’s cooperating with McKeesport police.
