    A manufacturer has moved a step closer to starting work on a huge new facility in north Birmingham after securing consent for its first planning submission. Rockwool has won the green light for its so-called 'Section 73' application for its proposed new factory on the Peddimore industrial park in Minworth. The company makes stone wool products like building insulation, acoustic ceilings and external cladding for sectors such as construction, marine and offshore.

    The famous North Stand at Villa Park football stadium will be refurbished and expanded, Aston Villa have confirmed. The Premier League club said it planned to increase its capacity from around 5,000 to more than 12,000 seats without having to close it during the season in the £100 million project. It will also take the overall capacity of Villa Park from just below 43,000 to more than 50,000.

Panattoni, the US-headquartered developer of industrial property, is behind the £135 million Panattoni Park Coventry project which recently secured consent. The scheme will comprise a 540,000 sq ft unit which will be built speculatively and be ready for occupation in autumn 2026.

Intellectual property specialist Marks & Clerk has relocated to a new base at 45 Church Street. The firm advises university spinouts, small companies and large corporations on matters of intellectual property, working in sectors such as automotive, life sciences, chemistry, electronics, food and drink and manufacturing.
