MUZAFFARABAD: Justice Sardar Liaqat Hussain of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) High Court was sworn in as the permanent Chief Justice on Friday, following the issuance of a formal notification to this effect by the AJK Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Department a day earlier. The oath was administered by AJK President Barrister Sultan Mahmood at a ceremony held at Kashmir House, which was also attended by Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwar ul Haq.

MUZAFFARABAD: Justice Sardar Liaqat Hussain, the senior puisne judge of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) High Court, has been appointed as the next chief justice, following the advice of the prime minister of Pakistan to the AJK president. Justice Hussain is scheduled to take the oath of office at Kashmir House in Islamabad at 5pm on Monday, a day after the retirement of the incumbent Chief Justice Sadaqat Hussain Raja.

MUZAFFARABAD: The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government is considering relocating the occupants of a heritage site near the Line of Control (LoC) under a donor-funded programme to ensure both their safety and the restoration of the historic structure for tourism purposes. This was disclosed by Chaudhry Mukhtar Hussain, Divisional Commissioner of Mirpur, following his visit to Sarai Saadabad located just five kilometres short of the heavily militarised LoC in Samahni valley of Bhimber district.
