FLORENCE — Law enforcement officers from across the region gathered in solemn unity Tuesday to honor the life and service of Deputy Nathaniel “Nate” Ansay, who was laid to rest following a ceremony at Florence Baptist Temple. Ansay, 24, died last week from injuries sustained in a vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 301 near Effingham. Though his time with the Florence County Sheriff’s Office was brief, joining on Oct. 30, 2023, his dedication left a lasting mark.
