The federal government has issued an update nearly one year-on from its formal response to the robodebt royal commission, claiming “significant progress” to public service reform and restoration has been achieved since the details of the unlawful scheme were laid bare. By the end of 2024, full implementation of the majority of the royal commission’s recommendations are expected to be complete. The government plans to release another update in early 2025.

Senator Linda Reynolds has berated Services Australia CEO David Hazlehurst for tabling a link to the Australian Government Data Catalogue in Senate estimates. Services Australia tabled the answer “available on data.gov” in response to a number of advanced questions. Reynolds said Services Australia had provided no answers to good faith questions. Hazlehurst said Services Australia was “trying to be helpful”.
