FORT HOOD, Texas (KXXV) — Fort Cavazos has officially been redesignated as Fort Hood, according to officials. The installation has received official orders to implement the change and is in the process of carrying those orders out as directed. The installation is currently updating the online presence, including Facebook and the website, and will update physical signage and materials, "later this summer," according to post staff.

AUSTIN, Texas (KXXV) — The Texas State Capitol was evacuated Saturday afternoon after Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Capitol Region identified a credible threat toward state lawmakers who were planning on attending a protest on Saturday at the Texas State Capitol Complex. Texas DPS says the Capitol and Capitol Grounds were evacuated around 1 p.m. out of an abundance of caution, and both remain temporarily closed.

UPDATE: A 78-year-old man from Houston drowned Sunday while swimming in Belton Lake, according to the Bell County Sheriff’s Office. Charles Edward Dickson and his wife had been boating when they got into the water to swim. Deputies say the current pulled the boat away from the couple, and Dickson drowned while trying to swim back to the vessel. Officials have not released his wife’s name, citing health privacy laws.

BELL COUNTY, Texas (KXXV) — A man died after being rescued from Lake Belton Sunday afternoon, and a woman was taken to the emergency room. Emergency responders were called to Roger’s Park near Morgan’s Point Resort shortly after 1:30 p.m. to help two people who were reported in distress in the water.
