Less than a week after a “Run for Their Lives” chapter in Colorado was attacked by a man with Molotov cocktails, Tenafly’s chapter of the global group pressing for the release of Israeli hostages is marching on with its weekly walks. Advocates have walked through Tenafly every Friday morning since November, 2023, raising awareness for the hostages held by Hamas in the Israel-Hamas War.

After months of public input, the Summit municipal council has passed an ordinance that bars homeless individuals from camping outdoors in public parks and spaces. The ordinance has been reworked over the last few months after initial protests, and now would require shelter be provided to individuals before possible arrest or other penalties. “The original ordinance was terrible,” said Jeff Wild, an attorney who assisted the council.
