The chemical giant 3M will pay New Jersey nearly a half billion dollars to settle liabilities related to decades of toxic “forever chemical” pollution around the Garden State. State officials announced the settlement Tuesday morning, where the Minnesota-based company will pay up to $450 million to New Jersey toward environmental remediation and restoration of damaged natural resources.

Edan Alexander, the New Jersey native and Israeli soldier held by Hamas for 584 days, was released by the terrorist group on Monday. Alexander, a native of Tenafly, was captured during the Oct. 7 attacks in Israel and was the last living American hostage being held by Hamas. The remains of four other Americans have yet to be returned.
