    Ontario Provincial Police are investigating a house fire in Pembroke. Police say the fire broke out at around 11 p.m. Wednesday at a vacant home on Bronx Street. The Pembroke Fire Department extinguished the blaze, and the house suffered minor damage. The OPP have deemed the fire suspicious.

    The forecast for Thursday in Ottawa is calling for a warmer than average high but there’s a chance we could see some showers. Environment Canada says Ottawa could see a high of 17 C Thursday afternoon, which is about three degrees warmer than normal. The morning starts off mainly sunny, with increasing cloudiness by noon. There’s a 40 per cent chance of showers throughout the afternoon. In the evening, expect a partly cloudy sky. Overnight, the temperature drops to a low of 4 C.

    Ontario Provincial Police say an 84-year-old woman was killed in a two-vehicle collision Tuesday evening near Morrisburg, Ont. OPP said the crash happened at around 6 p.m. on County Road 18 at Heritage Road in South Dundas, about 75 kilometres south of downtown Ottawa. According to police, the driver of a westbound vehicle on County Road 18 crashed into another westbound vehicle attempting to make a right turn onto Heritage Road. The victim was airlifted to hospital, where she later died.
