In addition, there was no staffing at the entry booths at the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge over Memorial Day weekend, another apparent sign of federal cuts. The national seashore and wildlife refuge are co-located on Assateague Island.

Cape Charles Distillery opened in the building in August 2024, after a renovation that transformed the space. Now there is a sleek downstairs dining area with intimate booths and spaces where groups can relax and enjoy a craft cocktail, as well as a second-floor event space, a cigar lounge, and a rooftop deck. Another change is the addition of food.

    BY TED SHOCKLEY, Eastern Shore Post —Northampton County is getting its own FM radio station — complete with an Exmore broadcast tower, a lighthouse logo, and a name that zeroes in on Cape Charles. The station, 96.9 The Cape, will begin broadcasting at noon on Saturday, Feb. 1. But Mike Szczechura, the sales manager of the station, WCCZ, said the station’s weekday radio personalities will debut on Monday, Feb. 3.
