We’ve been chronicling the build of our 1976 Chevy K5 Blazer over the past couple issues, and the process continues this month as the crew at Two Guys Restorations in North Adams, Massachusetts begins to get into the details. When we left off at the end of Part 2 in the April issue, we teased a shot of the truck on its wheels with the grille, top, and other pieces in place, but in this installment, we’re going to back up to the point shortly after the body shell was merged with the chassis.

Those scenes from The Blues Brothers encapsulate the incongruity that seems to exist between car enthusiasts, who have a history or running afoul of the law, and their fascination with police cars.

Our weekly perusal of the offerings in the marketplace at Hemmings.com has yielded another batch of dream machines, this time with fairly disparate origins. One of them touches on a recurring theme here: A special car that was brand-new not so long ago, but which we missed out on during its brief stay in showrooms. This time around, the lament stems from the fifth-generation Camaro Z/28, which Chevy only offered for two model years, producing fewer than 2,000 examples.

Every so often a particular vehicle listing will spark interest that sends one of us “down the rabbit hole” of research, and sometimes the results are quite interesting. In this case, the car in question is a 2001 Mustang Shinoda Cobra SVT a well-equipped tuner version of the special SVT model, but one we’d not been aware of previously. Naturally, we immediately recognized the Shinoda name.
