    I have noticed that the La Grande Walmart has started accosting customers by checking their purchase receipts when the customers are leaving their store. I find that this practice is demeaning and disrespectful to most of the citizens who frequent our local Walmart. I and most Walmart shoppers in Northeast Oregon are honest hardworking people.

    The last time a barfly ordered a Mule’s Hind Leg or a Fluffy Ruffle was likely when Harry Craddock was still behind the American Bar at London’s Savoy Hotel in the ‘20s. Craddock compiled the legendary “Savoy Cocktail Book,”  published in 1930, containing hundreds of recipes. Like the two above, many have not been embraced by contemporary drinkers. But one recipe is among the most well-known classic cocktails of all time and remains popular to this day: the Corpse Reviver #2.

    I started my journey into drawing pretty early in life. I think I was about 5 or 6 — you know, around the age when you start first grade. Crayons were always my go-to as a kid. But the real game-changer came when my mom gifted me a Bruce Blitz cartooning kit one Christmas. That kit was awesome — it had a DVD with video tutorials and all the drawing gear you needed to get started. I still have the original pencil from that kit, though it’s been sharpened down a lot over the years.

    It’s a new year and a new me, am I right? No. I’m wrong. Same old me. Same fucking problems. Every year, when the clock hits midnight, a hopeful season filled with motivation and aggressive personal goals begins for many of us. Some people want to lose weight, start a new hobby, or be more productive, while others just want to stop scrolling on their phones until their eyes twitch and their heads hurt.
