October 20, 2024 This season, despite palpable pressure, Rising has endured. There was no miraculous run to the final or a USL Championship like last season but success came at a cost after the departure of Coach Juan Guerra and several Rising players. To begin its new season, Danny Stone was named new head coach and it quickly awakened hope for another successful run.

October 4, 2024 The Phoenix Rising lost tonight to Monterey Bay FC two to one. Rising were coming off a last minute defeat versus Vegas, and looked to rebound. Rising sat seventh, only two points clear of the last playoff spot, while Monterey Bay sat in 11th, but only six points shy of the playoffs. These last five fixtures would be must win games for both sides for playoff contention.

Phoenix will take on a top ranked team in the Sacramento Republic Saturday, September 14, at Heart Health Park. September 6, 2024 PHX Rising topped FC Tulsa tonight 1-0 in a must win game at home. It was a must win for both teams, both with 30 points heading into this game. Rising were seventh and Tulsa sixth in the USL West standings leading up to this matchup. With ninth place only two points behind each team, Rising were looking for back-to-back wins under head coach Diego Gomez.

Rising welcomed North Carolina at 38th/Washington St on Saturday night. This was a huge game for Rising, as they are in race for playoff contention, but were sitting at tenth in the USL West. However, a win would see them shoot up to seven, with a game in hand, while North Carolina sat ninth in Group East. With those extra games, Phoenix’s playoff hopes had grown, and they surely were hoping for a win in this late August matchup.

Rising had recently fired head coach Danny Stone, and the new coach, Diego Gomez, was looking for back-to-back wins. Tampa Bay was no cakewalk, as they sat third in Group East, while Phoenix sat at ninth, playoff aspirations looking grim. Rising, looking to defend last years epic championship run, would fight for those playoffs, as the top eight teams of each group move on.
