The award honors regional leaders for their advocacy on behalf of the Dayton region. Hobson was elected to Congress in 1990 to the seat vacated by Mike DeWine, who became Ohio’s lieutenant governor in early 1991, serving at the time with Gov. Called “Roadcheck,” the inspections focus ”on specific areas of operations to ensure that motor carriers are operating safely on the highways,” said John Williams, a member of the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO), which will participate in the inspections. All inspectors, either PUCO staff, Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers or civilians, are in marked vehicles, said Keith Kerns, assistant chief in the PUCO’s Motor Carrier Enforcement Division.

Woolpert focuses on geospatial services, capturing and processing imagery and lidar data “from mountaintops to the seafloor,” it said in an announcement.

“It’s a national crisis of housing,” Marchelle Berry, vice president of development for VOA, told the Dayton Daily News. “So this is filling the need both for veterans as well as general occupancy for those who are living on the street. It’s a crisis.”The VA already has an EUL agreement — an “enhanced use lease” — with the VOA. An EUL is an agreement in which an organization or business leases federal property for a government-approved purpose.

“The result of this decision to discontinue operations at this facility will be prolonged and is expected to be finalized between May 8, 2025-December 31, 2025,” the company said in the letter. Of affected employees, 88 are represented by the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers. The remaining affected employees, 39, are not represented by a union and cannot displace less senior employees the company said.
