Wild winds have caused havoc across Sydney, with a church being smashed after a massive gum tree was uprooted and people were hit by a falling tree in the city on Friday. One person was injured after a corrugated metal roof was blown off a shop and onto one of the city’s busiest roads, while trains were delayed after debris hit tracks. Multiple cars were trapped underneath the roof, causing closures on Victoria Road in Drummoyne during peak hour on Friday afternoon.

Woolworths has been unable to reopen a critical distribution centre in Melbourne to improve stock levels for Victorian customers as the ongoing industrial action strips supermarket shelves in the lead-up to Christmas. Unionists from the United Workers Union (UWU) have held their picket lines on Monday morning to block major Woolworths distribution centres.
