Evansville City Councilwoman Mary Allen acknowledged she's sniffing around the race, but no decision has been made. Allen didn't sound gung-ho to take it on. The U.S. Census Bureau puts the 8th District's population at nearly 757,000 people. That means a candidate has to generate millions in campaign funds. EVANSVILLE — Tickets go on sale Friday for an event that will bring three of the stars of the movie "Napoleon Dynamite" to Evansville's Victory Theatre on Oct. 11. It's called, "A Very Special Evening with Jon Heder, Jon Gries & Efren Ramirez" — the actors who portrayed Napoleon Dynamite, Uncle Rico and Pedro, respectively. It's also billed as a 20th anniversary celebration of the film, which was released in 2004.

The Petersburg Road–Boonville-New Harmony Road intersection will be closed for more than four months beginning June 9, Vanderburgh County Engineer John Stoll said Thursday. "This closure is expected to continue until October 31, 2025," Stoll's announcement said.

That would be $4,600 — an increase over the $2,000 annually plus per diem that state law had specified as the maximum until passage of Senate Bill 287 signed by Gov. Mike Braun on May 6. Commencement at Reitz begins at 5 p.m. Wednesday at the Reitz Bowl. Bosse's commencement begins at 6:30 p.m. at Enlow Field with Harrison's to follow at 8 p.m. at Romain Stadium.
