The vital role of immunization in public health has been displayed in full view during the COVID-19 pandemic with the race to develop and mass-produce vaccines using viruses and various antigen-generating technologies ( 1 ). Despite not often being in the spotlight, vaccine adjuvants are critical in modulating immune responses ( 2 ). Effective adjuvants are thus indispensable in the fight against current and emerging diseases.
