RIVERVIEW, FL — A man was charged with murder after a fatal overdose in Riverview, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said. Deputies responded to a home on Hancock Street on Nov. 19, 2023, after receiving a call about a medical emergency. When they arrived, they found Jordan Johnson, 23, unresponsive. He was brought to a local hospital and pronounced dead the next day, HCSO said. Detectives identified Quadrian Harris, 32, as the person who provided the drugs.

ENGLEWOOD, FL — A man leaving a Publix grocery store parking lot in Englewood Wednesday night died after being hit by another car, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release. The 56-year-old Englewood man was leaving the strip mall parking lot, crossing the northbound lanes of Indiana Avenue, around 9 p.m. and was hit by another car that was heading north on the same road. The second driver, a 34-year-old man from the Rotonda West area, hit the car’s left side.

CLEARWATER, FL — More than a week after a fatal crash that left one passenger on the Clearwater Ferry dead and injured at least 10 others, the ferry will resume operation between downtown Clearwater and Clearwater Beach on Thursday, the Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority said in a news release. The ferry’s operators and the U.S. Coast Guard has performed safety inspections of the boats and determined service is ready to resume.
