While the population continues to boom on the Treasure Coast, that doesn't mean schools are feeling the benefits. In Martin County, enrollment in schools is down, so the district has found a new way to bring in money. It's all about advertising to local businesses, they'll be selling the naming rights to their athletic fields and facilities, just like the professional sports teams do it with their stadiums and arenas.

Lifeguards were on high alert this past weekend as rip currents threatened shores from the Palm Beaches to the Treasure Coast. Multiple rescues were carried out, and one turned tragic for a teenager. The rough waters led to a rescue mission at Carlin Park in Jupiter. Three kids got caught in a dangerous rip current, but they were rescued by the lifeguard. While those three kids are ok, a swim was tragic for 17-year-old Oliver Vasquez-Perez, who drowned in Lake Worth Beach.

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — Westward Elementary School in West Palm Beach is teaching kids about money at a young age. They opened their student-run "Panthers Mini Mart". While it's not real money, they are learning real-life skills. "This is an opportunity for the students to apply the skills that they're learning in the classroom and to see that math is not just to take a test," Westward Elementary 3rd-grade teacher Jessical Estel said.
