La Habra (Division 2), Woodbridge (Division 4) and Northwood (Division 5) earned No. 1 seeds in the CIF baseball playoffs, CIF officials announced Monday. Other high seeds include Sunset League champion Huntington Beach (No. 3 in Division 1), Ocean View (No. 4 in Division 5), Garden Grove (No. 4 in Division 7) and La Quinta (No. 4 in Division 8). Servite, Foothill and Mater Dei received at-large berths in Division 2. San Juan Hills qualified as an at-large tgeam from Division 3.

The hard work has paid off with the program receiving recognition from a national publication.,The field was recognized by Sports Field Management Associations magazine in an article earlier this season.

After eight great years at Santiago High School, Matt Moorhouse has resigned as head boys basketball coach to join new Crean Lutheran Coach Austin Loeb, Loeb confirmed this week. Moorhouse led the Cavaliers to their first CIF boys basketball title in March. Santiago defeated Ramona 64-49 at the Toyota Arena in Ontario in the CIF 4AA championship game.

NORTH HILLS LEAGUECREAN LUTHERAN 2, PACIFICA 1 (8 innings): The Saints (18-9, 7-4) won on Monday at home. Lucas Williams walked to lead off the eighth inning, stole second base, advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored when the catcher tried to throw him out and threw the ball away. Pacifica (8-18, 3-8) tied the game 1-1 in the top of the seventh inning, scoring on a wild pitch with two outs. Davis Rutten drove in the first run for Crean Lutheran in the fourth inning on a sacrifice fly.
