    When you think of Liverpool, you think of The Beatles. When you think of Minneapolis, you think of Prince. When you think of Erick, Oklahoma, you, or course, think of Roger Miller. And when people from all over the globe who have been to the Plaza to share in our July 4th celebration think of Sonoma, they quite naturally think of the Sonoma Hometown Band. Who can forget seeing that ragtag bunch, who all received the same memo about what to wear for the parade but largely disregarded it.

    Ever so slightly in the future, on Thursday, April 17, local musician/historian/radio host CW Bayer will gently guide his audience into the past, specifically the Gold Rush era of California of the 1850’s when he presents his lecture and concert called “Seeing the Elephant” at the Sonoma Mission. Bayer is a bona fide expert on the era, having studied it extensively and written several history books about it.

    Friday, April 18 is another night of classical candlelight at the Sebastiani Theatre when Fever production company presents two shows under the glow of thousands of LED candles scattered across the stage. The surreal glow allows the string quartet to perform in a dreamy setting, playing — on this night — “A Tribute to Coldplay,” then in a second show, “A Tribute to The Beatles and Queen.”The show is one in a series of “Candlelight Spring” shows at the Sebastiani.
