San Francisco police are investigating the fatal shooting of a person Monday afternoon in the city’s Tenderloin neighborhood. At about 5:29 p.m., officers responded to Turk and Mason streets to find a victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound, police said. The person was pronounced dead despite life-saving efforts by first responders, according to police. No arrest has been made in the shooting, police said.

Antioch police are investigating the death of a 3-year-old toddler who was shot at a home Tuesday evening. Police said it appears the toddler accidentally shot themselves at a home on Clearbrook Road. The shooting was reported to Antioch police dispatchers at about 6 p.m. “This is a heartbreaking event, and our thoughts are with the family and all those affected during this incredibly difficult time,” said police in a statement.

An incarcerated man’s death at a Northern California prison Friday is being investigated as a homicide, California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation officials said. At about 6:30 a.m., officers at Mule Creek State Prison in Amador County saw Robert E. Cole, 48, unresponsive in his cell and immediately began life-saving measures, according to the CDCR.

A 23-year-old Houston woman pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud for stealing money reserved for prepaid debit cards used to provide unemployment benefits in California and other places. Jaysha Victorian will be sentenced by U.S. District Judge Andrew S. Hanen on July 7, prosecutors for the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Southern District of Texas said. She faces up to five years in prison and the possibility of a $250,000 fine, prosecutors said.
